Well, here we go again.
As I write we're just putting the finishing touches to Christmas
before a bit of a dash to get everything ready for our next trip.
Since Ireland we've had
Bertie checked and serviced, just needing a couple of new tyres –
well he didn't actually need them but we thought there wasn't a safe
enough margin for our trip so better safe than sorry. There is still
a small job, finishing off a temporary repair when we found water
getting in around a body seam that hadn't been properly sealed, but
we'll do that when we get some warm dry weather.
Our biggest concern
though has really been to do with Brexit. Now that the government
have passed the Bill that will take the UK out of the EU on January 31st
we've had to get various things sorted as we'll be away. Allegedly,
there will be no changes during the transition period but the last
year has proved that things can and do change quickly so we're
hedging our bets. International Driving Permits have thus been
acquired together with a European Green Card insurance document, but
the biggest expense was the Green Card for Morocco. The cost was such
that we seriously considered not returning – but eventually decided
we would although it may well be the last time.
So the plan is after
Christmas travel down to Mum's in Lincolnshire for a few days over
New Year then continue south for our Channel Tunnel crossing on 2
January.
We'll attempt to keep
the blog up-to-date as we go along.
